The bathroom is the perfect place to begin organizing your home. You are in this room every morning and evening so it is easy to identify your rhythm and strip your bathroom to better help you complete your routine taking into account the Naked Formula. We encourage you to make small modifications as a consumer that will impact everything from your financial to spiritual wellness.
Everything on this lists helps us with our personal consumer waste reduction goals. By taking steps to reduce the amount of trash we create, we are saving money, buying better quality ingredients, and doing our part to help curb plastic pollution.
We are fortunate enough to have a refill station in our area. This is a type of grocery store where we bring our own containers and can purchase everything from sunblock to wine. We are able to purchase all our haircare and skincare products there so many items on this list are used to store these goods.
I encourage you to look for these type of stores in your area.

  • Bamboo Toothbrush for Children

  • Mounted Stainless Steel Toothbrush Holder 3 and 2 Slot Set.

Why bamboo? Bamboo products are eco-friendly because they are made of sustainable materials, but they also break down fully and quickly. A single plastic toothbrush can take 1000 years to decompose. Even then, plastic will decompose into micro plastics that will stay in the environment. Considering that 1 billion toothbrushes are being thrown our every year, and you can see how much of a problem plastic toothbrushes create.

How will I use these? I personally love these because I can mount them on the inside of my cabinet doors to keep my toothbrush away from bathroom germs that can become airborne.

  • Stainless Steel Soap/Shampoo/Conditioner Dispenser

Used with Wall Mounted Dispenser

How will I use these? I fill these with shampoo and conditioner from my local re-fill station store. This size works perfectly with the dispenser holder listed above.

Why Stainless Steel? I prefer using stainless steel bottles over glass for the shower so make is safer incase the bottle falls while installing in the shower.

  • Stainless Steel Soap Saver

How will I use this? We love using bar soap and this will help it last longer will keeping your shower shelf cleaner. These will also work perfectly if you like to use bar shampoo and conditioner bars.

Why stainless steel? Stainless steel will not rust. Be careful about purchasing items coated with stainless steel because the coating can wear off and rust. The soap saver shown in the photo above has performed very well for us.

  • Stainless Steel Hanging Shower Squeegee

TOWEL OPTIONS

  • Bamboo and Cotton Eco Friendly Towels – Towels by Gus
  • 100% Organic Cotton Towels – Made Here by 1888 Mills
  • or Hemp Towels – Hemptonic

How will I use this? Bath towels for drying after showering or bathing. You can also purchase hand towels to use instead of papery products to dry your hands, you can also purchase wash clothes if you would like to use to use to lather up your soap products and exfoliate your skin while washing.

Why Cotton, bamboo, or hemp fabrics? Because these are natural fibers that will not add to plastic pollution with every wash. Unlike polyester fabrics which release micro-plastics into the environment which will eventual make its way into the oceans. Both bamboo and hemp require less resources than cotton so they are considered more sustainable than cotton. However, keep in mind that even hemp towels will have a cotton lining so you will have a very hard time finding a 100% bamboo, or 100% hemp towel on the market. These three brands all take pride in creating quality products while making ethical choices for their employees and for the environment.

SHOWER CURTAIN OPTIONS

  • Hemp Shower Curtain – Rawganique

How will I use this? You can hang this instead of hanging a vinyl (PVC) shower liner or shower curtain that will release harmful fumes. PVC releases harmful fumes as it is, so the situation is made even worth when used in a shower where the warm and enclosed environment will expose you to higher concentrations of these fumes.

Why Rawganique? Hemp is naturally resistant to mold and bacteria thanks to its ability to dry quickly. Raqganique grows, weaves and sews each eco-friendly plastic-free organic hemp shower curtain at their European atelier. This item is pricey, but the hemp material is perfect for the task and it is manufactured ethically. You can also consider an organic linen shower curtain or a Peva material curtain.

  • Linen

How will I use this? You can hang this instead of hanging a vinyl (PVC) shower liner or shower curtain that will release harmful fumes. PVC releases harmful fumes as it is, so the situation is made even worth when used in a shower where the warm and enclosed environment will expose you to higher concentrations of these fumes.

Why linen? Linen may not work as well as hemp because it does not dry as quickly, however it is a less expensive option if you would like to try it out. This is a good option that has a combination of cotton and hemp material. Click here to purchase a 100% cotton shower curtain made in the U.S.A.

  • Peva

How will I use this? You can hang this instead of hanging a vinyl (PVC) shower liner or shower curtain that will release harmful fumes. Please note that Peva is a form of vinyl, however it has been found not to release high levels of fumes.

Why Peva? Peva stands for polyethylene vinyl acetate. It is the item on this list that most resembles as performers like a traditional vinyl shower curtain. Peva is listed as biodegradable, but I have not yet seen exactly how it is possible for vinyl to breakdown in a way that is safe to re-enter the environment. I would proceed with caution when considering Peva as a substitute for PVC product. It is though a much better option than a regular vinyl curtain. It works the same way without the high levels of toxic fumes. Here is the brand I recommend if you rather not use a hemp shower curtain. Click here to purchase a peva curtain.
